Be An Elf! Helping Hungry Kids
Year 7 - 2024
We have gone official!!

Be An Elf! – Helping Hungry Kids, is now a registered 501(c) non-profit organization. Having recently turned 14, I am now able to register as an official non-profit organization, which could not have happened without the dedicated donations and help of all of my steadfast supporters. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me come this far.
In 2018, Be an Elf! – Helping Hungry Kids was founded. After 6 years of community service, we are proud to do it once again. While it is not commonplace knowledge, over 6000 scholars in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are in serious need of financial aid. Though Be An Elf! does not help with the finances, we can help by donating food to satisfy their hunger. My fundraiser reaches approximately 1,000 kids of those in need. Over the past 6 years, we have served over 12,500 healthy meals together and provided over 1,100 family sanitary kits through Be An Elf!
Last year every $14.50 (approx.) donated to our cause provided 3-4 healthy meals for a family of 4, as well as a family sanitary kit.
In 2023, each Meal Box had 2-3 lbs. of rice, 2 cans of chicken breast, 2 cans of vegetables, 2 cans of beans, and 1 box of Mac and Cheese. In total, this served 2400 meals (approx.). Individually, the value of each Meal Box was $9.00.
Each Sanitary Kit had 2 toothbrushes, 1 full-size toothpaste, 1 deodorant, 2 soap cakes, and 1 full-size shampoo. In total, these served 150 families. Individually, the value of each Sanitary Kit was $5.50.
Over the past few days, even those living the best of lives have had quite the terrifying experience with Hurricane Helene here in North Carolina. Luckily, my family was safe, and that gives us a responsibility to help those who were not so fortunate, in practically drowned towns such as Asheville, and Chimney Rock. This gives us more people cruelly tossed into the grasps of hunger and misfortune, that desperately require aid, and urgently. I cannot be one to lecture on this topic, given I have never experienced true hunger in my life. Sure, we say we are starving or hungry sometimes, but isn’t that just an excuse for wanting to eat? True hunger is when you cannot eat three full meals a day and when you constantly have a clawing feeling in your stomach - never-ending and unrelenting.
Hence, I attempt to help.
